I found via Chris’s blog a post detailing new features in Vista MCE. Finally, they are including a DVD codec OOB. The most frustrating part of earlier MCE editions for me was dinking around with the damn codec and getting errors or horrible performance. Given that one of the main pieces of functionality in MCE is the ability to record and play MPEG-2 streams, it seems like a no-brainer that it should do it OOB. I am aware of the licensing issue, but you need to pay for MCE – so incorporate it in the price.
