Following on the tail of my previous post on this subject, it turns out that there is actually a beneficial use to the Sony rootkit installed as part of their DRM scheme: cheating on WoW. Yes, that’s right, it turns out that Blizzard’s anti-cheat software cannot detect the cheating programs when they take advantage of the “$sys$” naming format that turns files invisible with the rootkit’s help.
